The 2017 Homestead is a blend of 48% Merlot, 20% Zinfandel, 11% Grenache, 10% Mourvèdre, 8% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Syrah. It has a medium ruby color and opens with bright red cherries, red and black plum, warm earth and oodles of floral accents plus touches of cedar, bitter chocolate and dried herbs. Medium to full-bodied, it's user-friendly in the mouth with juicy fruits, firm, pleasantly chewy tannins and very bright freshness causing one to smack one's lips on the finish. Drink now or over the next 5-6 years.
