The Van Zeller's connection to the wine business dates back to the 17th Century, according to records the family ancestors were the biggest wine traders registered at that time and are the first known members of an uninterrupted fourteen consecutive generations devoted to Port and Douro wines to date.
Barao de Vilar was founded by Fernando Van Zeller after selling legendary Qta do Noval in 1993; Wine Maker Alvaro Van Zeller began his career at Quinta do Noval unquestionably bringing Noval's magic to this "new" project.
"A beautifully balanced, rich wine, this has great tannins, a dense, firm texture and luscious blackberry fruits. It shows the structure of the vintage while also bringing a fresher element. Jammy but never cloying, this is an impressive wine for the long term. Drink from 2029."
