Cantine Valpane Rosa Rusche (roo-SKAY), derives its name from a combination of the grape the wine is made from, Ruche, and Ruschena, the last name of Pietro's cousin. Pietro's grandfather purchased the vineyard sites in Monferrato via a sharecroppers agreement in 1902. Over the years the estate has grown as more vines were planted. Fermentation for this wine takes place in cement tanks and lasts 23 days. No fining or filteration is done. It is a nice bright, ruby color with pretty wild berry, floral, pepper and citrus peel aromas. There is moderate acidity and soft tannins that make this wine a great pairing with slow-cooked beef, northern Italian cheeses, and mushroom dishes.
