Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2014 tasting, Domaine de l'Arlot's 2014 Nuits St Georges 1er Cru Clos de l'Arlot has a fresh raspberry preserve and cranberry-scented bouquet with impressive purity and class. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannin, slightly darker fruit than I was expecting yet very well balanced, with hints of black tea and a dash of black pepper toward the finish. Maybe just a little New World-like in style, but that is a moot point — a joy. Tasted September 2017.
