The 2015 Volnay 1er Cru Clos des Chênes is showing very well, unwinding in the glass with notes of ripe red berries, woodsmoke, dried flowers and subtle forest floor. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, deep and nicely concentrated, with velvety tannins, tangy acids and a long, chalky finish. This is a classy, old-school Clos des Chênes that will evolve gracefully in bottle.
