Forlorn Hope 'Queen of the Sierra' Rose, Calaveras County, USA 2019

Regular price $ 20.25

Forlorn Hope Wines is the project of California winemaker Matthew Rorick, who explains that “at Matthew Rorick Wines, we love the longshots. We love the outsiders, the lost causes, the people/projects/ideas abandoned as not having a chance in the world.” In wine terms, this means a project devoted to displaying the wealth of California’s viticultural potential as well as championing varieties less common. The “Queen of the Sierra” rose, for example, is an unfined/unfiltered blend of Barbera and Zinfandel grown in the cool Sierra Foothills at the edge of Stanislaus National Park. Remember the unfined/unfiltered bit: this wine has a sediment; it is taut and lively on the palate, with hints of cranberry, lemon, rose hips, and passion fruit.
