From one of the Grand Cru sites in the Russian River Valley, the 2014 Chardonnay Ritchie Vineyard was brought up in 30% new barrels for ten months. It's similarly colored (maybe slightly lighter) and has a more balanced, layered profile as well as brilliant notes of Caramelized lemon, brioche, honey, and Caramelized orchard fruits. It's textured, has good acidity and freshness, plenty of mid-palate depth, and a great finish. There's a subtle veneer of classy oak but you can unquestionably see the Ritchie fruit underneath.
