Paul has crafted a super impressive Pinot from this cool, sandy-soiled vineyard. Don’t be deceived by its bright, sparkling garnet hue; it is not a delicate wall-flower. The nose is mostly cherry but with hints of earth, meat and herbs. As soon as the wine hits the palate, it explodes with liveliness. Red cherry, red currants and white pepper are bracketed by a zingy acidity (which will make this wine a great food match as well as age worthy.) The palate fleshes out with a little time in the glass, revealing darker fruit notes and a more mouth-filling texture. The super long finish turns more serious with darker cherry notes, rosemary and pine forest flavors. This is the kind of Pinot that will please both Burgundian and New World palates. It has something for everyone.
