The Lauer family estate is located in Ayl, a small village on the west side of the Saar River. The estate is planted exclusively to Riesling, with some parcels being around a century old. The estate is run by brothers Florian and Peter III, who have taken the family winery away from the style of their neighbors Egon Muller and Zilliken to focus on dry and dry-tasting Riesling. Barrel X is Lauer’s off-dry entry-level cuvee, showing complex notes of citrus, green apple, and salt. The wine's residual sugar is balanced by lightning-like acidity and a strong backbone.
