The 2016 Pinot Noir (Sonoma County) is a gorgeous appellation-level wine. Bright, full and wonderfully deep, the 2016 has so much to offer. Fred Scherrer likes to release his wines a bit later than most. Readers will find a Pinot that is just starting to show the first signs of aromatic development, yet that also has more than enough freshness to drink well for at least another handful of years. Sweet tobacco, dried herbs, mint, pine, dried cherry and licorice add striking layers of complexity. This is a terrific showing.
