The sharp and austere 2022 Talinay Sauvignon Blanc has to be one of the best bargain whites in Chile. This is always bottled unoaked to keep the varietal purity and the influence from the limestone soils and the proximity to the sea. It has 13% alcohol and incredible parameters—a pH of 2.96 and 8.38 grams of acidity. It comes from vines in Talinay where the soils have more limestone and the sea influence is stronger, where the vines were planted in 2006. It was kept in stainless steel until its bottling in November 2022. This is the top of the three Sauvignon Blancs from Talinay; all three have a common profile—very pale, sharp, austere, mineral and saline. It's a superb vintage for this bottling. 2022 seems like a superb year at Talinay. Think Sancerre. 18,000 bottles produced.
