About This Wine

Château Bonalgue is a classic Pomerol estate on the sandy, gravelly soils just northwest of Libourne, owned by the Bourotte family since 1926. Pomerol is renowned for the highest expression of Merlot, and Bonalgue is planted to roughly 90% Merlot with 10% Cabernet Franc, aged around 18 months in French oak.

Deep garnet-purple. A big, rich yet elegant Pomerol offering smoky black and blue fruits — plum, black cherry, kirsch — with violets, cedary pencil, licorice, mocha and damp earth. Medium to full-bodied, with a silky, velvety texture, ripe tannins and chocolatey background oak on a long finish.
