Conterno Fantino

Conterno Fantino is a pioneering organic winery in Monforte d'Alba, at the heart of the Langhe hills. Founded in the 1980s by the visionary Conterno and Fantino families, this estate was an early adopter of sustainable viticulture practices. Organic farming began in 1996, with full certification achieved in 2012. The winery itself earned organic certification in 2020. Conterno Fantino's respect for the environment extends to a geothermic system for energy and an indigenous yeast strain isolated for Barolo fermentations, capturing the essence of their terroir.

From humble beginnings with tiny vineyard parcels, Conterno Fantino has grown to 27 hectares across prestigious Monforte crus like Ginestra, Bricco Bastia, Mosconi, and Castelletto. Yet a steadfast commitment to quality over quantity remains, with an annual production of only 13,000 cases. Iconic wines include the Barolo Vigna del Gris and Sori Ginestra crus, along with Dolcetto, Barbera, and Chardonnay from the highest vineyards.

Now guided by the next generation - Fabio, Elisa, Noemi, and Matteo - this dynamic winery continues pushing boundaries while honoring traditions. Conterno Fantino encapsulates the spirit of the Langhe with an unwavering pursuit of terroir-driven, organic wines of character and finesse.
