Domaine Bernard Moreau

Explore the legacy of Chassagne-Montrachet through the renowned Bernard Moreau, a distinguished producer consistently crafting some of the most compelling wines in the region. With a hands-off winemaking approach, Bernard yields Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays that are not only delicious but also embody sensuality and opulence.

The winery's history dates back to 1809 when Auguste Moreau established a cellar near the Champs Gain vineyard, cultivating Chardonnay and Pinot on the golden slope. Marcel Moreau expanded the family's vineyards in the 1930s, acquiring approximately 80% of the current holdings. Taking the reins in the early 1960s at the age of 14, Bernard Moreau solidified the estate's reputation alongside Françoise Moreau, leading to the official naming of Domaine Bernard Moreau in 1977.

Under their stewardship, the estate underwent transformations in equipment, farming practices, and winemaking. Additional land acquisitions expanded the vineyard to 14 hectares. In the 1990s, sons Alex and Benoît joined after gaining international experience. Today, Alex oversees the winery's overall operations, including the cellar, winemaking, and vineyards.
