Jean-Michel Gaunoux: A Winemaker with Centuries-Old Roots in Cote d'Or

Jean-Michel Gaunoux, a renowned winemaker from Meursault, Burgundy, has a family legacy that spans several centuries in the prestigious Cote d'Or region. His domaine, Domaine Jean-Michel Gaunoux, cultivates three Premier Cru vineyards in Meursault: Perrieres, Genevrieres, and Les Gouttes d'Or.

With a total of six hectares (14.5 acres) spread across the villages of Meursault, Pommard, Puligny-Montrachet, and Volnay, Jean-Michel Gaunoux has mastered the art of winemaking through his experience working alongside his father, Francois Gaunoux, at Domaine Francois Gaunoux until establishing his own domaine in 1990.

Committed to sustainable and traditional practices, Jean-Michel Gaunoux employs green harvesting techniques to achieve low yields and avoids the use of pesticides in his vineyards. His wines undergo traditional vinification methods, with 15-30% new oak aging and a maturation period of 15-16 months before bottling. Notably, his wines are neither filtered nor fined, ensuring their outstanding aging potential and preserving their authentic flavors.

Jean-Michel Gaunoux's dedication to his craft and respect for the terroir of Cote d'Or make him a prominent figure in the world of Burgundian wines, offering wine enthusiasts an opportunity to experience the rich history and exceptional quality of this renowned region.
