Nestled in the picturesque Foxen Canyon of Santa Barbara County, Foxen Vineyard carries on the legacy of its namesake, Captain William Benjamin Foxen. An English sea captain and the great-great-grandfather of co-founder Dick Doré, Captain Foxen settled in the area in the early 1800s, purchasing the vast Rancho Tinaquaic land grant that now forms the foundation of the winery's 2,000-acre estate.
Foxen's first vintage was produced in 1985 in the historic "Shack," an old blacksmith shop on the ranch. Over the years, the winery has expanded, with the completion of a solar-powered facility in 2009 to showcase their Bordeaux and Italian varietals under the "foxen 7200" label. Meanwhile, the beloved "Shack" now features the winery's Burgundy, Rhône, and Loire offerings in the solar-powered FOXEN tasting room.
Today, Foxen Vineyard continues to honor its roots, with co-founders Billy and Dick, the "Foxen Boys," welcoming visitors to experience the bucolic setting of Foxen Canyon and Rancho Tinaquaic. As many have noted, "If you don't know Foxen, you don't know Dick...or Bill!" Explore the legacy of Captain Foxen and the rich winemaking traditions of Santa Barbara's Foxen Vineyard.
