Stephan Asseo embarked on his winemaking journey in 1982, initially establishing Domaine de Courterillac in Bordeaux, before eventually becoming the Owner and Winemaker of L’Aventure. Over the course of 15 years, he dedicated his efforts to perfecting his artisanal winemaking techniques in his home country. Seeking the ideal terroir that would complement his unique craftsmanship, Asseo eventually found Paso Robles, California. The convergence of the Santa Lucia Mountain Range, the deep calcareous soils, and the cooling influences from the nearby ocean made the region's topography perfectly suited for Asseo's exceptional wines.
Situated on a 127-acre estate in the southwest region of Paso Robles, the vineyard is carefully cultivated with varietals such as Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Roussanne, Viognier, and Grenache Blanc. One of the factors contributing to the acclaim of L’Aventure wines is their limited production, totaling only 8,000 cases. As a result, each vintage receives high praise and continues to captivate wine enthusiasts.
