The Batard-Montrachet is a dry, still white wine, traditionally aged in oak barrels. The grapes grow on brown, stony and chalky soil. The Wine is closed when it is young and it develops only slowly. It remains closed a long time before opening up all of its taste. The nose is marked by notes of hazelnuts and almonds. It is a powerful wine to stock, very thick with length and a great aromatic persistence. With its slow evolution, it can easily age over 10 or 15 years.
