This offering from Monte Rio Cellars is not a traditional Vermentino. It spends some time on the skins, giving it more texture and giving the wine more richness and fullness on the palate. While some might think of this as a natural wine, it is a low-intervention project from a meticulously farmed vineyard. The fruit is highly aromatic with nectarine, melon, pink grapefruit, dried chicory, and sedimentary rock on the nose, and the palate is racy minerality, peach, dried apricot, pomelo zest, crushed herbs, and a juicy mouth-watering finish. pair with a scallop crudo, kumquat, and fresh herbs.
