About This Wine

Viu Manent's "El Incidente" is the Colchagua Valley icon Carmenère, named after founder José Miguel Viu's legendary hot-air balloon ride over the estate vineyards — a flight that ended abruptly in the town of Santa Cruz, immortalized on the label. Sourced principally from the La Capilla vineyard with old-vine Malbec from San Carlos, this is one of Chile's benchmark expressions of its emblematic grape.

Deep, intense violet in the glass, with an elegant, complex nose of black fruits — blackberry and plum — lifted by violet, black pepper and sweet spice. The palate is balanced and vibrant, with velvety tannins and a long, persistent finish. Aged in French oak.
