2025 Bodegas Cerron 'El tiempo que nos une' Monastrell Jumilla, Spain
Tasting Notes
A fresh, vibrant expression of Monastrell. Ripe plum, blackcurrant and red berries meet black pepper, sweet spice and Mediterranean herbs such as thyme and bay leaf. The palate is supple and juicy, with fine, silky tannins and a bright finish carried by the limestone soils. Generous yet easy to drink, it shines with grilled and red meats, charcuterie and roast game.
About This Wine
El Tiempo que nos une is the village-level Monastrell from Bodega Cerrón, a fourth-generation family estate in Fuente-Álamo, Albacete, within the DO Jumilla in southeastern Spain. The Cerdán family were the first in the area to certify their vineyards organic in the 1990s, and today the estate is farmed biodynamically.
The fruit comes from ungrafted, pre-phylloxera vines averaging 70 years old, planted on calcareous soils at roughly 850 to 900 meters, among the highest in Jumilla. Fermentation is spontaneous in cement with a portion of whole clusters, followed by aging in large oak foudres to preserve the purity of the fruit. The result is a Monastrell that trades the heaviness often associated with the grape for freshness, elegance and a clear sense of place.
