With fruit sourced from 7 sites - some on granite-based soils, some iron-rich and some schist, Mullineux's pure Syrah offers a wonderful snapshot of the diversity of the Swartland. The perfume is beautiful - high notes of violets, mulberries, spicy orange rind with star anise and clove, and a seamless palate with more dark fruits, black olives and cured meats, like walking into a fancy Italian deli and a sprinkling of pepper. So persistent in the mouth - this is not a big wine, but there's a great power and presence to it.
