2024 | Vignobles Berthier Sancerre | Loire | France
Organic Sancerre from a fifth-generation Loire family — crisp, mineral Sauvignon Blanc in a party-ready magnum.
Vignobles Berthier traces to 1980, when Jean-Marie Berthier struck out on his own; today brothers Clément and Florian — possibly the fifth generation of Loire growers in their family — farm some 30+ hectares between Sancerre and the Coteaux du Giennois. Florian eliminated chemicals in 2013 and earned organic certification in 2022. Sauvignon Blanc is roughly 80% of what they grow, and this village Sancerre is their calling card, here in the 1.5L magnum.
Organic village Sancerre in magnum is the crowd-pleaser that still has real pedigree. Certified-organic, fifth-generation, mineral-driven → the magnum is built for a table → at $79.99 you're pouring proper Sancerre for a crowd.
