Bodega Chacra Treinta y Dos "32" Pinot Noir, Rio Negro, Argentina 2023
From Chacra's oldest parcel — own-rooted Pinot Noir planted in 1932 on the limestone, sand and clay soils of the Río Negro Valley in northern Patagonia — the "32" is the soul of Piero Incisa della Rocchetta's estate. Grandson of Mario Incisa della Rocchetta of Sassicaia fame, Piero farms these remote, phylloxera-free vineyards organically and biodynamically. The 2023 is fermented with roughly half whole clusters and aged about 19 months across concrete and seasoned French oak, bottled unfined and unfiltered.
Violets, black cherries, raspberries, crushed stone and orange blossoms lift from the glass, edged with flower stems, dried sand and bark. Medium- to full-bodied, its fine tannins fill the mouth with a cashmere-like texture, staying bright and lively through a long, citrus-fresh finish. A benchmark expression of Patagonian Pinot Noir — drink now or hold.
