Brumont Château Montus Cuvée Prestige, Madiran, France | 2017 | 750ml
Brumont Château Montus Cuvée Prestige, Madiran, France | 2017 | 750ml
Tasting Notes
The 2017 is pure Tannat, massive in scale yet held in restraint. Blackberry fruit plays against dense, firm tannins, and it is that tension that gives the wine its elegance. Structure and fruit have now come together, so it drinks well today after a good decant and will keep developing in the cellar.
About This Wine
Alain Brumont bought Château Montus in 1980, in Castelnau-Rivière-Basse within the Madiran appellation of southwest France. The Cuvée Prestige is the estate's flagship wine, the bottling that took Brumont to the top of the appellation.
It is made entirely from Tannat grown on Montus' highest plots: steep, south-facing slopes covered in rounded pebbles over layered clay, warm soils that bring the grape to full ripeness. The wine is matured in oak and given extended time before release.
Food Pairing
Serve with grilled steak, roast lamb, duck confit or cassoulet.
