Château Haut-Segottes has fewer than 10 hectares of vines located within the Saint-Emilion Grand Cru appellation. This wine is usually dominant with Cabernet Franc, which produces a wine of considerable structure and is exceptionally age-worthy. Only 20% of the barrels used in the élévage on this elegant St. Émilion were new. One of the appellation's hidden gems, this dusty, expressive wine gives tones of smoked cherries, cigar, peppercorn, and an earthy texture. Best with rustic fare, like white bean ragout with pork or beef.
