Clos Marie "L'Olivette" 2022
Clos Marie "L'Olivette" 2022
The benchmark of Pic Saint-Loup, farmed biodynamically since the nineties.
Françoise Julien and Christophe Peyrus founded Clos Marie in Lauret in 1995 and turned it into the reference domaine of Pic Saint-Loup — 22 hectares under the limestone peak north of Montpellier, certified organic and worked biodynamically: plowed soils, hand harvest, yields held to a Burgundian 35 hl/ha. La Revue du Vin de France ranks the estate among the great domaines of the Languedoc.
L'Olivette takes its name from the old olive groves that once stood on these first slopes. It blends Grenache and Syrah from 15– to 30-year vines with Cinsault from vines 65 years old, partially destemmed and raised in barrel.
RVF scored the 2022 a 93 and described it as brimming with Kampot black pepper and wild blackberry — the perfect introduction to the domaine's style. Translation: a top-tier grower's red with genuine cellar pedigree at an everyday price. Seventy-nine bottles.
