Domaine du Cellier aux Moines Givry Le Petit Cellier

Le Petit Cellier, also labeled Le Petit Clos du Cellier, is the second wine of Domaine du Cellier aux Moines: a red Burgundy from Givry in the Côte Chalonnaise, made from 100% Pinot Noir. It comes from the younger vines of the estate, replanted with a massal selection of the domaine's own Pinot Noir, and is one of the most approachable ways into this historic estate. Offered as a half case of six 750ml bottles.

Tasting Notes

Bright, forward raspberry, cherry and plum, lifted by floral notes and a touch of licorice. The texture is supple and fresh, with medium body and smooth, silky tannins, finishing a little darker and firmer.

How It Is Made

The grapes are destemmed and gently fermented, then aged only in used barrels so the fruit stays at the center. The domaine farms biodynamically and works in a gravity-fed winery.

About Domaine du Cellier aux Moines

The Cellier aux Moines, the monks' cellar, was founded around 1130 in Givry by Cistercian monks from the Abbey of La Ferté. Philippe and Catherine Pascal bought and restored the estate in 2004, and the wines are made by Guillaume Marko. The domaine was the first in Givry to farm organically and is certified biodynamic by Biodyvin.

How to Serve and Food Pairing

Serve at 58 to 62°F. Pair with roast duck, quail, roast chicken, mushroom dishes and charcuterie.
