Domaine du Cellier aux Moines Montagny 1er Cru Les Charmelottes

Les Charmelottes is an old vine Premier Cru white Burgundy from Montagny, in the Côte Chalonnaise. Made from biodynamically farmed Chardonnay by Domaine du Cellier aux Moines, it is a concentrated, saline Chardonnay with the structure to age.

Tasting Notes

A precise, mineral nose of flint, sea salt, lemon zest and crushed stone, with a light touch of pastry. The palate is concentrated and long, carried by firm acidity and a saline backbone that gives the fruit real energy. It will reward a few years in the cellar.

About Domaine du Cellier aux Moines

The Cellier aux Moines, the monks' cellar, was founded around 1130 in Givry by Cistercian monks from the Abbey of La Ferté. Philippe and Catherine Pascal bought and restored the estate in 2004, and the wines are made by Guillaume Marko in a gravity-fed winery. The domaine was the first in Givry to farm organically and is certified biodynamic by Biodyvin.

How to Serve and Food Pairing

Serve at 50 to 55°F, and give it time in the glass. Pair with lobster, crab, scallops, oysters, sole in butter sauce and aged Comté.
