About This Wine

Domaine Valma was founded in 2021 by Valentine and Stéphane Mathieu in Les Labourons, a high, west and north-facing lieu dit on the northwestern edge of the Fleurie cru in Beaujolais, France. Les Labourons is the estate's flagship Fleurie.

The wine is 100% Gamay from two plots within Les Labourons at 350 to 400 metres, on decomposed pink granite sands. The vines were planted in 1951, 1995, 2008 and 2016, and the vineyard has been in organic conversion since 2022.

Fermentation is 100% whole cluster with native yeasts and semi-carbonic maceration in concrete tanks, followed by eight months of ageing in concrete. The wine is bottled without fining or filtration.
