José Zuccardi is a wine that honors the son of the winery’s founders, who internationalized the winery and positioned it on the global market in the 1990s and 2000s. It is 90% malbec from Altamira and Gualtallary and 10% cabernet sauvignon from Gualtallary. Compared to the first vintage in 2013, this one shows a major shift toward fresh fruit (helped along by a cold year like this) and also in terms of structure with some very fine tannins and much sharper acidity. A delicious, nervy wine.
94 Pts Patricio Tapia, Descorchados
Explosively fruity aromas and flavors of blackberry, dark cherry and plum tart are creamy and filled with rich savory and cooking spice accents. Powerfully structured, showing dark chocolate and mocha on the finish, with hints of dried mint. Drink now through 2025. 5,000 cases made, 2,000 cases imported.
