Granja Nuestra Senora de Remelluri 'Lindes de Remelluri Vinedos de Pecina', Rioja DOCa, Spain 2020

With Lindes de Remelluri, Telmo Rodríguez turned Rioja's conversation from cellar technique to village and place — bottling the fruit of neighboring growers who farm organically, biodynamically and regeneratively along the borders of the historic Remelluri estate. Viñedos de Pecina is the smallest of these village wines: five plots covering just 1.9 hectares in a narrow, high-altitude amphitheater at 637–672 meters above Peciña, a hamlet of San Vicente de la Sonsierra in Rioja Alta. Tempranillo with a generous share of Garnacha — hence the Burgundian bottle — it is perfumed and floral, layered with Mediterranean herbs over taut acidity and the fine, austere tannins of mountain Rioja. Pour it with lamb, ibérico, or anything off the grill.
