Noble-sweet Tokaji from the world's first classified vineyard — a 2010 Aszú 5 Puttonyos with 15 years of grace.

Tokaj-Hétszőlő is one of Tokaj's most historic estates: its single vineyard, assembled from seven parcels in 1502, was classified premier cru in 1772 — the first vineyard classification in the world. Farmed organically on volcanic loess below Mount Tokaj, this Aszú 5 Puttonyos is made from botrytized (noble-rot) grapes, principally Furmint — a dense, amber, gloriously sweet-and-saline dessert wine, now beautifully mature in the classic 500ml.

Aged noble-sweet Tokaji from a landmark estate is one of wine's great values. Dense, complex, 15 years mature → great Tokaji ages for decades → at $84.99 the half-liter you're drinking living history.

  • Principally Furmint (botrytized Aszú berries)
  • Tokaji Aszú 5 Puttonyos — Tokaj, Hungary; 500ml
  • Tokaj-Hétszőlő — organic; vineyard classified 1772 (world's first)
  • Deep amber; mature 2010 vintage

Buckwheat honey, dried apricot, candied orange, black tea, ginger and spice over old wood; dense and concentrated, with well-integrated sweetness and piercing, stimulating acidity. Translation: luscious but electric noble-sweet Tokaji — marmalade and honey cut by vivid acidity, glorious now and for years yet.

Mature noble-sweet Tokaji from the world's first grand cru. Exactly the bottle for blue cheese, foie gras, or a fruit tart — or a milestone toast.
