Hourglass is a respected Napa producer, and "HGIII" is its proprietary blend — built on Merlot with Petite Sirah and Cabernet Sauvignon, a distinctly un-Bordeaux combination that gives the wine its own personality. Winemaker Tony Biagi blends traditional technique with a modernist streak: concentrated and layered, yet carrying a tensional, vibrant edge. Presented here in magnum for slower, graceful aging.

Plum, blackberry and black cherry over mocha, violet, cracked pepper and fine oak spice with dense, plush tannins, mouthwatering acidity and a long, layered finish. Translation: a concentrated, plush Napa red — dark fruit with mocha and peppery lift over dense tannins, kept lively by real acidity. The Petite Sirah adds colour, grip and spice you won't find in a straight Bordeaux blend.
