Bodegas Izadi is a leading Rioja Alavesa house (founded 1987, Anton family). "El Regalo" — "the gift" — is its single-vineyard Reserva, from a four-hectare plot that still holds part of its original 1936 plantings. The site was gifted by a former owner to his wife, and their sons later built a small chapel to Nuestra Señora del Regalo beside it. Organic-certified since the 2019 vintage and aiming for "viñedo singular" status, it's Tempranillo of real polish and depth, made in just 20,000 bottles.

Plums and cherries over cigar box, cocoa powder and spiced dark fruit with medium to full body, fine-grained tannins and a succulent, long finish. Translation: a polished, complex Rioja Reserva — dark and red fruit with cigar-box and cocoa depth over fine-grained tannins. Juicy and bright, with real length; drink now or hold.
