About This Wine

A red Nebbiolo d'Alba DOC from Piedmont, Italy, made by Luciano Sandrone. The grape is 100% Nebbiolo from the Valmaggiore vineyard in Vezza d'Alba, in the Roero zone: a south facing amphitheater with sandy soils. In the 19th century, grapes from this vineyard set the price for the whole territory. The wine is aged in 500 liter French oak tonneaux, followed by nine months in bottle.

Luciano Sandrone started making wine in the family garage in the 1970s and now runs the Barolo estate with his son Luca. The estate works only with Nebbiolo, Barbera and Dolcetto, and every fermentation is spontaneous with indigenous yeasts.
