Biodynamic, horse-plowed Chilean Pinot from a tiny egg-shaped cellar — one of Chile's most soulful reds.

Montsecano was founded in 2005 by Julio Donoso and Alsatian great André Ostertag, who planted four hectares of Pinot Noir in Casablanca's Las Dichas and built a subterranean, egg-shaped cellar. The vineyard is farmed biodynamically and plowed by horse; the wines are vinified only in concrete egg and stainless — a purist approach many consider among the finest Pinot expressions in all of Chile.

Biodynamic, hand-crafted Pinot from a cult micro-estate is a genuine rarity. Widely held to be one of Chile's top Pinots → comparable artisan Pinot costs far more → at $44.99 you're drinking a purist's cool-climate Casablanca red.

  • 100% Pinot Noir
  • Casablanca Valley, Chile — Las Dichas
  • Montsecano (Donoso & Ostertag); biodynamic, horse-plowed
  • Concrete-egg and stainless vinification

Bright red cherry, raspberry and wild herb over cool, saline minerality and silky, fine-grained tannins. Translation: a light-footed, energetic Pinot — pure red fruit and freshness with none of the heaviness you might expect from Chile.

A biodynamic cult Pinot from a four-hectare cellar shaped like an egg. Exactly the bottle for the drinker who wants soul in the glass.
