One of Champagne's greatest single vineyards — Philipponnat's legendary "Clos des Goisses," 97+ points.

Clos des Goisses is a true walled monopole — 5.83 hectares of pure chalk on a steep slope above the Marne canal, facing south, and probably the warmest single vineyard in Champagne. Philipponnat has bottled it for nearly 90 years, making it the original single-vineyard Champagne. The 2015 is 78% Pinot Noir and 22% Chardonnay, 100% barrel-fermented with no malolactic, disgorged March 2024 at just 4.5g dosage. Wine Advocate called it powerful and resonant, surpassing the 2010, at 97+ points.

A Clos des Goisses is Champagne's single-vineyard summit. Legendary walled monopole, Pinot-led, 100% barrel-fermented, 97+ points → powerful, deep, ageworthy → you're drinking one of Champagne's greatest wines.

  • 78% Pinot Noir · 22% Chardonnay — vintage Extra-Brut
  • Champagne — France (Mareuil-sur-Aÿ walled monopole)
  • Philipponnat — "Clos des Goisses"
  • Pure chalk · no malo · 4.5g dosage · 97+ points

Pear, mirabelle and perfectly ripe orchard fruit over spices, honey, brioche and delicate iodine with a full-bodied, vinous, concentrated palate, racy acids and a long, sappy, licorice-inflected finish. Translation: a powerful, profound vintage Champagne — ripe orchard fruit with honey, brioche and a saline iodine edge over a dense, layered palate with racy acidity. Slightly austere now; reward the patient.

A legendary single-vineyard Champagne. Exactly the bottle for game, truffles, caviar, or the cellar.
