Prieuré Roch Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru "Vieilles Vignes" 2023
The estate Henry-Frédéric Roch built to keep old Burgundy alive.
Founded in 1988 by Henry-Frédéric Roch — co-director of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti and heir to the Leroy family's stake in that estate — Prieuré Roch farms some twenty hectares of the Côte de Nuits the way Burgundy did a century ago: biodynamics in the vineyard, whole clusters in the vat, no added sulfur anywhere. Since Roch's passing in 2018, Yannick Champ has carried that flame without compromise.
This Premier Cru "Vieilles Vignes" is drawn from the old vines of the Clos des Corvées, the domaine's five-hectare walled monopole in Nuits-Saint-Georges — the same enclosure that yields its legendary flagship. The result is Burgundy at its most alive: dark rose, sappy red fruit, incense, and a saline, chiseled finish.
The average online price for the 2023 runs well over $600 a bottle → ours doesn't. Twenty bottles in the allocation. For collectors orbiting DRC without paying the DRC tariff, this is non-optional.
