2023 | Le Vigne di Zamò Pinot Grigio Ramato | Friuli | Italy
A copper-hued skin-contact Pinot Grigio — Friuli's "winter rosé," textured and savory from a top estate.
From Le Vigne di Zamò, an iconic organic estate in the Colli Orientali del Friuli, this is Pinot Grigio in its traditional "ramato" (coppery) form: the grapes' pink skins left in contact to give an onionskin hue and real texture. Cold overnight maceration, then around eight months on the lees builds depth and a savory character well beyond ordinary Pinot Grigio.
A skin-contact ramato from a Friuli icon is far more interesting than everyday PG. Skin-contact, lees-aged, organic estate → copper-hued, textured, savory → you're drinking Pinot Grigio the traditional Friulian way.
- 100% Pinot Grigio (ramato / skin-contact)
- Colli Orientali del Friuli — Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy
- Le Vigne di Zamò — organic
- Overnight maceration · ~8 months on lees
Wild strawberry, floral and citrus notes over a savory, textured palate with yeasty depth, gentle grip and a fresh, saline finish. Translation: a coppery, textured "winter rosé" — delicate red-fruit and floral notes with a savory, lees-driven depth and a hint of grip. Distinctive, gastronomic, and a world away from generic Pinot Grigio.
A traditional skin-contact ramato from a Friuli icon. Exactly the bottle for charcuterie, richer fish, or curious drinkers.
