The 2017 La Roza feels very young but has amazing harmony and energy. It's a wine from a very unusual vintage; the frost that happened in other zones of Ribera del Duero didn't affect the vines here, as the cycle of the vines in this cooler zone is slower and the vines had not sprouted. This is from a north-facing vineyard that is even cooler, and in 2017, it behaved very well and produced a very elegant wine with subtle aromas and an incredible texture. It has abundant tannins that are very fine and chalky, and the finish is long and dry. This is a great wine in the making. It should develop nicely in bottle. 581 numbered bottles were filled in August 2019.
