The 2021 Francisco Barona is a Tempranillo-based blend sourced from the towns of Roa, Anguís and Aguilera in Ribera del Duero and was aged for up to 12 months in French oak barrels. Garnet-red with a murky sheen. The fruitforward nose offers notes of plum and violets along with spicy undertones and wild herbs. On the palate, it's dry and taut, with reactive but finely-grained, vibrant tannins that bring a burst of energy. The 2021 is a wine with a longlasting, compact character.
