Nothing in particular stands out in the 1998 Chianti Classico Riserva Vigna del Sorbo, rather it is the wine's balance and overall sense of harmony that truly stand out. This is one of the smaller-scaled Sorbos in the vertical, but here, too, all the elements are in perfect balance. A soft, creamy finish rounds things out nicely. Although the 1998 isn't a huge Sorbo the flavors remain dark and vibrant throughout. The 1998 is a beautiful Sorbo, especially for drinking today. Its sense of proportion is much more classic than the 1999.
