A ripe and nicely layered nose reflects notes of red and dark raspberry, warm earth and a suggestion of forest floor. Here too the middle weight flavors possess both good richness and volume before terminating in a moderately rustic, indeed almost chewy, finish. The malo finished late and there was still plenty of gas which may well have accentuated the tannic 'chewiness'.
