Located in the town of Epfig, the place called Pflanzer occupies a steep hillside, ideally facing south and well ventilated. The stony ground, well filtering, restores during the night the diurnal heat, favoring a good ripening of the berries. While the proximity of a water table avoids any phenomenon of water stress in the vines and guarantees good natural irrigation, including in the solar vintages which are more and more often experienced by the Alsatian vineyard. It is for all these reasons that this rather fertile terroir was for a long time the "nursery" of the young massal selections of the Domaine, their "cradle" in a way.
