Sparkling Rioja? YES! This is NOT a Cava, but rather the first legally designated Rioja Brut Methodo Tradicional. Carlos Serres has been pushing for this designation for years, as the wines are beautiful, and the grapes/profile are totally different from Cava. This bottle consists mostly of Viura, with Chardonnay & Tempranillo Blanco rounding out the blend. It is properly dry, frothy with lively bubbles, and has that lovely white flower characteristic of Viura.
